Summary

Coins from the area designated as BMR 2649 (situated a bit south of the BMR 1191 area) at Bornholm Museum. 'A' is a hoard consisting of six solidi, five gold bracteates, two gold pendents and eight gold beads which must be interpreted as a grandiose necklace. All items were found wrapped up into a Roman silver plate.

Site comment

Sb 93 is the main area of the Sorte Muld central place in Ibsker parish. The area has to date yielded no less than 16 solidi, more than 300 denarii, two Roman bronze coins, some dirhams as well as a small number of later coins. A large part of the denarii come from the same hoard, that seems to have included at least one of the solidi as well. A closer analysis of the coins wear and corrosion in relation to the exact find spot of each coin remains do be done. It is therefore not possible to give exact figures of the composition of the hoard(s). The area may be divided into three: a (old find), b (recent finds registered as BMR 1191), c (recent finds registered as BMR 2649)
