Summary

Found in the necropolis of Hawara during the excavations of W.M. Flinders Petrie in 1888, in a jar and interpreted as a funeral offering by Flinders Petrie. First published in 1938. The hoard, comprising ca. 1300 bronze coins, contained one genuine coin (one 4-nummi coin of the Vandal king Hilderic) and 1299 local imitations, including a lead fragment.
