Site comment

The coins were found within the cabin area of a ship. The ship was carrying two distinctive types of amphora which obviously came from the eastern Mediterranean. It appears that the ship had been in eastern waters before loading her last cargo of 'Africano piccolo' amphorae at a harbour on the North African coast. The typology of the amphorae suggests a date in the third quarter of the third century AD.
