Fetching coin data
Rendered part forming kitten: length 19 mm; width: 4 mm; thickness: 4 mm. Visible sizes of the intaglio: length: 4 mm; width: 3 mm. Engraved bezel showing a draped female figure r. (Fortuna?).
Complete, it consists of two symmetrically arranged hooks on either side of a parallelepipedic section body (with rounded corners). The body, adorned with two lateral beads of unequal size, is perforated at its center with a circular orifice (diameter: 3.5 mm).
The oblong shape is accentuated by the greater thickness of the glass at the ends. The bubbles and traces on the surface of the glass confirm its antiquity. The size of the ring is too small to have been worn as an adult ring. Too small also to have served as a closure system to a textile bag that could have contained the hoard.
Updated by C. Gazdac (May 2018); partial coin-level data for Antoninus Pius and Marcus Aurelius provided by M. Ball (Oct. 21).
